"ROYDON FEN"

ROYDON FEN :


There is a small Car park on the bend in Tottington Lane, about 100 yards from the A1066, with a a Notice Board giving details of the route.
This interesting walk runs through various types of habitat, woods, reeds, open water, and on a wood walkway in parts, a bit wild and a real fen.
To me this is a real hidden gem in Roydon, and is well worth the walk
It does not appear to be well marked , and is a bit muddy in parts [June 2003].
I have to admit I got lost twice, probably because I walked the path from the other end, and eventually ended up joining Tottington Lane, near to Fair Green, instead of the Car Park I was aiming for.
The walk ,including return along Roydon Fen, formerly Fen Street, looks about 2 kilometres on the map
